The time has come Paramore fans, friends, and family… And for that matter, the time has come for the rest of you as well. We are ready to spill the beans about what we’ve been doing over the last *coughYEARcough*. With the most pride and passion we could ever possibly express, we would like to announce that this album, our fourth freaking album… Will be self-titled, ‘Paramore’. It has been self-titled through nearly the entire process. In fact, what usually takes us weeks on end to sum up and put a label on only took us a five minute conversation this time around. The whole making of this album was a rediscovering of ourselves as a band and as friends. It was a process that allowed us the freedom to explore new territory artistically and to liberate ourselves as musicians, singers, as people! Sincerely, we feel that the best way to give it a name is just to call it what it is. This album is us.

The first single off the album is called “Now”. Not really sure what else to say except for we love this song. It just feels like the perfect way to start this new journey we are embarking on not only as a band but as a movement. To show people that you can lose battles but come back and win full on wars. You can rise from ashes. You can make something out of even less than nothing. The only thing you have to do is keep moving forward!

Thanks to our fans for believing in the three of us before we ever even did. And to our producer, JMJ, for seeing a brand new band in us. We are prouder than ever and more excited now than ever to be Paramore.

‘Paramore’ will be released April 9th.

Singer Hayley Williams says the LP “is an answered prayer.”

Paramore’s “less toiled and troubled” album could make its debut in 2013, now that the band have wrapped recording it. Frontwoman Hayley Williams confirmed the follow-up to 2009′s brand new eyes will soon cross the finish line by tweeting on November 1, “Getting ready to walk out these studio doors for the last time. #album4.” Guitarist Taylor York tweeted soon after: “So we finished tracking our fourth album. This is surreal. Stoked. I am exhausted. I hope you love it. K bye.”

The fourth studio LP follows the contentious exit of two of the pop-punk band’s founding members, brothers Josh and Zac Farro, in 2010. (Drummer Zac has since put out a markedly un-Paramore-like solo EP and tried to make peace with his former bandmates). After a year off performing live, the trio of Williams, York, and bassist Jeremy Davis headed back into the studio in April with producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen, who last produced M83′s Best of 2011 album, Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming and who may usher in a new era of decade-spanning, genre-bending experimentation for the band.

In an interview with Electronic Musician, Meldal-Johnsen said, “They don’t need to be a pop-punk band anymore. They can do their own ideas.” He added, “All I’m really trying to say is that we’re not trying to deliberately lose their natural commerciality. I am here to articulate their vision for a step of growth. I’m not afraid to put a guitar through a modular synth, for instance. I want the album to sound very visceral and a little bit less locked down and computerized — more 1981 than 2012, with a nod to 2016.”

Source

The new sound is reflective of the new, relaxed creative process Williams detailed in a blog post published on Paramore’s website earlier this year. “In case you can’t tell, we’re working on a pretty strange schedule, by our standards,” she wrote. “Usually, we are rushing to make a very strict deadline which so far has just not been right this record.”

Back in May, the fire-haired bandleader gushed to Buzznet about what was taking place in the studio this time around, calling it “the most relaxed, inspired, and liberating experiences we have had … thus far.” She reinforced that comment this October, tweeting, “So many exciting things happening in the studio today I just wanna break stuff in the best way possible. This album is an answered prayer.”

Her songwriting, too, has changed as a result: “I am laughing things off a lot more easily these days than I was at 19, when I wrote the last album,” she admitted. “A lot of change… a lot of positivity. Musically, I am most inspired by the personality captured in every instrument. That, to me, is actually what is making up this newer sound that is happening.”

When Paramore recently returned to the stage, the trio performed an 18-song set — including ”Monster,” their furious contribution to the Transformers: Dark of the Moon soundtrack — but did not show off any new material slated for album number four. Late last year, Paramore dropped three new songs from 2011′s “Monster” sessions as a 7″-vinyl box set: “Renegade,” “Hello Cold World,” and the autobiographical acoustic “In the Mourning.“

Paramore’s Hayley Williams has said the band’s new album is like “an answered prayer”.

The singer was tweeting from inside the recording studio as the band lay down tracks for their currently untitled fourth album. Excitedly, she wrote:

So many exciting things happening in the studio today I just wanna break stuff in the best way possible. This album is an answered prayer.

— Hayley from Paramore (@yelyahwilliams) Octobre 6, 2012

The band, fronted by Hayley Williams, are currently working on their follow-up to 2009′s ‘Brand New Eyes’ in LA with producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen. Meldal-Johnsen is best known for his 10-year stint as Beck’s bassist and recently co-produced M83′s ‘Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming’ album.

The band have had tumultuous few years after two founding members, guitarist Josh Farro and his drummer brother Zach, departed from the group at the end of 2010.

Last month, the former Paramore sticksman opened up to NMEabout his reasons for leaving the band and strongly denied that he departed just because his brother Josh decided to go.

Asked about his departure, he said: “About a year before I quit, I was feeling like I should quit and I sought advice from lots of people about it. After talking to lots of people, they all pretty much said to me ‘Stick it out for one year and then tell me how you feel’. I really tried to give it 100% in that year.

“I don’t like the idea that I did things just because my brother did them. I made sure the band knew when I left that I’d made my own mind up, I sat them down separately and made sure they knew it had nothing to do with him, I really had my own reasons for deciding to leave. I didn’t need Josh’s approval for what I decided.”

Paramore made their first major UK appearance since the departure of founding members Zac and Josh Farro at Reading Festival tonight (August 24).

The band, who had earlier seen queues snaking all the way down to the main arena for their appearance at the NME Signing Tent, played an 11-song set, which lasted for just under an hour.

Speaking to the crowd, singer Hayley Williams said that the set “felt like a victory” after “the band had been through some hard times”.

She told the crowd: “For those of you who’ve been following our band, there’s been some hard times and this really feels like a victory right now.”

Although they are currently working on their fourth studio album, the band aired no new tracks, choosing to focus on material from their second album ‘Riot!’. Despite choosing not to air any new tracks, the band did play two of their 2011 singles ‘Monster’ and ‘Renegade’.

Speaking from the stage, Williams did give the crowd an update on the follow-up to 2009′s ‘Brand New Eyes’, saying: “The next time we step on a stage in England, it will be with a brand new album, our fourth. We’re recording right now, we came straight from the studio to come and play some shows for you guys and when we get back we’re going right back in.”

Williams, who was sporting a t-shirt with a picture of The Cure’s Robert Smith emblazoned on it, said she was convinced she’d cry when she saw The Cure take the stage after them, adding: “If you don’t care about our band, you should care that The Cure is playing. I’m going to cry, I know I’m going to cry.”

The band also played a selection of their biggest hits, including ‘Ignorance’, ‘Decode’ and the closing ‘Misery Business’.

Paramore played:

‘Brick by Boring Brick’
‘Renegade’
‘For A Pessimist, I’m Pretty Optimistic’
‘That’s What You Get’
‘Pressure’
‘Decode’
‘The Only Exception’
‘Careful’
‘Ignorance’
‘Monster’
‘Misery Business’

Standing onstage last night at the Fox Theater in Pomona, California, Hayley Williams told a capacity crowd that she’d been yearning for nearly a year to say the words she was about to say.

Her big reveal? “We are Paramore.”

Williams was leading the pop-punk band through its first show since last September, a sold-out warm-up gig before Paramore heads to the U.K. for a handful of dates including the Reading and Leeds festivals. And though part of her excitement was probably attributable to cabin fever – she and her bandmates have been working in a Los Angeles studio on Paramore’s fourth album – Williams also was acknowledging the break-up rumors that have swirled around the group since late 2010, when guitarist Josh Farro and drummer Zac Farro left in a storm of accusations regarding the band’s direction and authenticity.

“Our band has been a little bit of a soap opera since day one,” Williams went on. Then she introduced “Ignorance” – a cut from 2009’s Brand New Eyes about a judgmental friend (or bandmate) – as “a reminder of how it’s never, ever going to be again.”

Backed by three touring musicians on guitars, keyboards and drums, Williams, guitarist Taylor York and bassist Jeremy Davis used their 90-minute set to prove that all the drama hasn’t weakened Paramore’s live punch. They opened with a muscular rendition of Brand New Eyes’ “Brick by Boring Brick” and set off a sea of pumping fists in “That’s What You Get,” from 2007’s breakthrough Riot! Later, Williams whipped her bright-orange hair during Paramore’s first single, “Pressure,” which also inspired Davis to do a kind of backflip over York. After “Careful” the singer took a seat at center stage and admitted between gulps of air, “I’m 23, but it feels like I’m 63. It’s been awhile!”

Beyond the old stuff – including the Twilight hit “Decode” and “Monster,” from last year’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon – Paramore played three tunes recently released as part of an online singles club. “Renegade” and “Hello Cold World” hewed closely to the band’s signature sound, but the stripped-down “In the Mourning” showed off a newly soulful streak in Williams’ singing; she even threw in a bit of Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide,” as if to indicate the maturity Paramore has come into over the last two years.

“We’re so humbled and grateful for your support,” Williams told the audience at one point in the show, and the band’s fans reaffirmed that devotion with a roar.

Paramore’s new album does not have a title yet, but earlier today (July 24), the band uploaded a photo of the microphone in their recording studio to Instagram alongside the caption: “First vocal tracks of album #4 … Gonna have me a real good time!”

Paramore will return to Europe for an appearance at Belfast’s Belsonic Festival on August 19. They will then headline an intimate gig at Edinburgh’s Corn Exchange on August 21, before performing at Reading and Leeds festivals on August 24 and 25.

These will be Paramore’s first UK shows since the departure of two founding members, guitarist Josh Farro and his drummer brother Zach, at the end of 2010. Last month (June), the band announced that former Nine Inch Nails drummer Ilan Rubin will be contributing drum parts to their new album.

Paramore’s Hayley Williams and a host of other musicians have expressed their sadness over the death of a young woman at a Warped Tour show on Sunday (July 15).

Fans discovered the youngster dead as she lay on the grass at Toronto’s Molson Ampitheatre during punk group ‘Chelsea Grin’s’ set, but it was soon revealed that the girl wasn’t breathing and she was rushed to hospital before being pronounced dead later on yesterday (July 15).

Fellow festival-goers were quick to call 911 and even attempted CPR themselves but they were unable to revive her.

A host of punk bands that were playing throughout the day have since tweeted, with the hash tag #RIPTaylor trending pretty much as soon as the news broke, throughout yesterday and early hours of today (July 16).

“My heart and prayers go out to family and friends of the young girl, Taylor, who passed away at Warped Tour today. Rest in peace,” Williams tweeted.

All Time Low’s front man Alex has since taken to Twitter to say: “Taylor: A comrade, a friend, a hustler, an enthusiast, a dreamer, a sweetheart– I didn’t know her well, but I’m hit hard by her passing.”

The cause of death is still unknown.

Oh glory.
When I was 17, I started writing lyrics to a song that would later be called “Let The Flames Begin”. It was on our sophomore album, RIOT! I never felt like it really sounded as meaningful on record as it seemed when we played it live. Over the years, we added on and added on to it. Not only is it one of our favorites to play at shows but one of the most highly requested live songs by… ahem… you guys. Maybe it’s just because the song is heavier than most our other songs or maybe it’s cause it feels really emotional to sing some of those words. Either way, it means a lot to all of us.

The lyrics touched on the way I saw us (people who were around my same age at the time) and how we fit in to society… and sort of lightly dusted the topic of the human condition. How broken we must seem from the outside, to whoever happens to be looking in. I have always had that deep sort of hurting feeling that happens when you hear a tragic story of someone young who is diagnosed with a terminal sickness, or when you see someone homeless and begging on the side of the road who you could give a couple dollars to but could never really help… but I get it all the time… just about the world at large. Because I feel, truly and deeply, that we are all searching for some kind of cure or some kind of quick fix, all the time. Always filling a void. I do this every day even when I’m not aware. The condition of being alive and breathing. “How can I please me?” It’s not with pessimistic eyes that I see all these things, I just believe it’s realistic. For some people, there is faith that more is at work than just the brokenness of all of us. For others, it’s enough just to know that we try to be the best human we can be and make whatever difference we can. Whatever your pleasure, belief, sorrow or triumph… we are all human and we are all constantly facing some sort of brokenness. Of the heart, of finances, of family, of dreams… it is real pain and it can’t be ignored.

Livejournal Blog

Sometimes the only thing that gets me through a hard time is knowing that we are all (somewhat) in the fight together. Even as we might feel like we’re fighting alone, there billions of other humans doing exactly the same thing. In whatever their respective fights may be. I don’t know how it helps but really, it does. To know that no one has it figured out. It’s a bit of a drag but it’s just good comfort.

Seeing as even a good 6 years later I still feel all these things about life and being human, it probably should’ve been obvious that we’d write another song with a similar message for the new album. This time around I feel like it comes across a bit more hopeless… but actually that’s what excites me the most about it. To me, it’s getting to the bottom of what you thought was a bottomless pit… and that’s where you surrender yourself to whatever is next. That’s what billions of other people are doing right now. Hitting the bottom only to lift their gaze up and figure out how to get off of the ground again. Yeah, knowing that definitely helps.

It’s strange that a song about all this could go on what is about to be the most positive and most intoxicatingly fun Paramore album we have ever written… but somehow it works. And anyways, anyone who knows me knows I can only write so many happy lyrics til I have to start venting about something else again.

This is long and it’s late and I hope it makes sense to anyone if not all of you who actually read it.

H
