Paramore have announced two shows in Belfast and Edinburgh before the Reading and Leeds festivals. They’ll be headlining Belsonic 2012 on Sunday, August 19th and playing at Corn Exchange on Tuesday, August 21st. The 19th marks the band’s first performance in Ireland since playing sold out shows at Belfast’s Kings Hall and Dublin’s O2 Arena in 2010.

Tickets for both shows go on sale Friday, May 18th through Ticketmaster.

Paramore announce one-off show

Paramore have announced a one-off UK show for later this year.

The band, who are booked to play under headliners The Cure at this summer’s Reading And Leeds Festivals, will headline the Belsonic 2012 event in Custom House Square in Belfast on August 19.

The gig will be the band’s first UK show since the departure of founding members Josh and Zac Farro, and will see the Nashville pop punkers previewing material from their as yet untitled fourth album.

Paramore recently revealed that Beck/Nine Inch Nails bassist Justin Meldal-Johnsen will be producing their new record, with singer Hayley Williams adding that they have so far recorded and completed one track, which is titled ‘Daydreaming’.

Williams said of Meldal-Johnsen, who most recently worked on M83‘s double album ‘Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming’: “The guys and I went in to record a song for our 4th album, it was all very exciting. At the end of our time in the studio, it was clear to us that this was definitely right! So without delaying any longer, we would like to announce that our 4th album’s producer is Justin Meldal-Johnsen. And what the heck, we might as well tell you that the one song we recorded will be called ‘Daydreaming’.”

Kerrang 2012 Nominations

You Me at Six, Enter Shikari and Justin Bieber are among the nominees for this year’s Kerrang! awards. More than 280,000 votes were submitted to determine the magazine’s shortlists, which include prizes for best live band, tweeter of the year and hottest female. Bieber’s nomination comes in the villain of the year category.

This could well be the year of You Me at Six, who lead the sweepstakes with five nominations, including a nod for best album and two for best single. The British pop-punk quintet previously won Kerrang! awards in 2010 and 2011. “To be up for best British band four years in a row is just insane,” said frontman Josh Franceschi. “The people at the awards are gonna think there’s a problem with the slide show when our two songs come up in a row.”

Three UK acts – You Me at Six, Enter Shikari and Young Guns – will battle American bands Mastodon and Black Veil Brides for the best album gong. Black Veil Brides are one of the awards’ most acclaimed contenders: the band have three nominations, while two of their members will compete against each other to be named hottest male.

This year’s Kerrang! awards will incorporate new categories, including awards for films, video games, comedians and the contentious hero and villain of the year. In the latter category, Bieber features alongside hard rock enemies Simon Cowell, One Direction and Lou Reed (who has not been forgiven for his work with Metallica on Lulu.

“Much is made of how fun and debauched the Kerrang! awards are,” said James McMahon, the magazine’s editor. “I prefer to see them as proof of how strong the rock scene is.”

The prizes will be presented at a ceremony in London on 7 June.

Paramore reveal they’re working with M83 producer on fourth album

Paramore have posted an update on their progress in recording their fourth studio album and have revealed that former Beck/Nine Inch Nails bassist Justin Meldal-Johnsen will be producing the record.

The band are currently working on the follow-up to 2009′s ‘Brand New Eyes’ and singer Hayley Williams has said that they have so far recorded and completed one track, which is titled ‘Daydreaming’.

In a lengthy update, which you can read in full at the band’s official website Paramore.net, Williams said the band’s writing process was “ridiculously draining”, but that the “flood gates burst open in January”.

She wrote: “The first few months of writing were ridiculously draining and a lot more of a pain than a pleasure. It was supposed to be fun, right? We made it all the way to this point to just struggle some more. So, you can probably imagine that when the flood gates burst this past January and inspiration started filling us up again, we were more than willing to let it take us wherever it wanted. We’ve written a lot of songs I never thought we would write. And we aren’t done yet! The writing will continue even as we enter the studio.”

Williams then added that the record would be produced by Meldal-Johnsen, who most recently worked on M83′s double album ‘Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming’, and that the recording had been begun with ‘Daydreaming’. She added: “We’re working on a pretty strange schedule, by our standards. There has never been so much time and care put into a Paramore album. Usually, we are rushing to make a very strict deadline which so far has just not been right for this record. We cannot assure you it will be out this year.”

Paramore will play this summer’s Reading And Leeds Festivals, playing beneath headliners The Cure on August 24 in Reading and on August 25 in Leeds.

It’s April… Honestly, I don’t believe how fast the months go by anymore. The older I get the faster time flies. The other day I was looking at my calendar from last year (which was, admittedly, a lot less full than I had hoped it would be…) and thinking of how I was dreading how slowly it might go by. I’ve never known what it’s like to be home for more than a few weeks at a time that absolutely nothing is going on. The only thing I could think about was if we could snap our fingers and make the 4th album happen so that the next time I looked up, we’d be back on a stage somewhere and not sitting around at home. But you can’t just make things like that happen. For something to be great, there has to be some kind of trial or some type of struggle that actually makes it special or valuable to you. Otherwise, anything could be easily taken for granted.

There’s no reason to lie about it, the first few months of writing were ridiculously draining and a lot more of a pain than a pleasure. It was supposed to be fun right? And what the heck, we might as well tell you that the one song we recorded will be called “Daydreaming”. (It’s the one we “tweeted” about writing in a hotel room in LA back in Feb).

In case you can’t tell, we’re working on a pretty strange schedule, by our standards. There has never been so much time and care put into a Paramore album. Usually, we are rushing to make a very strict deadline which so far has just not been right for this record. We cannot assure you it will be out this year. What we can tell you is that from now on, when we go in to create this thing, whether for a day at a time or for a month, you will be kept more informed. It is a total joy to make our fans/family a part of what we do because we couldn’t do it without you anyway.

Phew! It feels so good to get all that out there… Felt like I was going to word vomit on twitter or something if I didn’t write this soon.

The guys and I have been constantly amazed at the enthusiasm and excitement we’ve seen on fansites/blogs/in handwritten letters/and elsewhere. Again, we just want to say thank you for your patience and the way you’ve kept us hungry to make music and to play shows. This is a very incredible life to live and you have all been the best reminder of that.

See you around the internet, surfing Tumblr and Twitter and all that mess… But not Facebook. I don’t know how to use it.

Frankie Cocozza proposes marriage to Paramore’s Hayley Williams

After shagging his way through a large number of the UK’s female population, Frankie Cocozza has now set his sights on the other side of the Atlantic. It sounds like he might be changing his ways though, and is not only trying to get a date, but also an acceptance to his proposal of marriage from Paramore singer Hayley Williams.

He might love a lady friend even more than he does a volumising product, but we can’t helping thinking Hayley would be an unlikely addition to Frankie’s list of conquests.

Professing his love for the singer on Twitter, he seemed rather smitten, saying: “I want to propose to Hayley Williams, even if she replied piss off prick I’d be so happy.”

Frankie might have thought it was a bit of a long shot, but after some encouragement from his followers, he tweeted the singer in hope of seducing her with a romantic proposition.

Tweeting the singer, Frankie said: @yelyahwilliams I’m some twat from the UK who you wouldnt look twice at and I want to marry you. I think our babies would be fit.”

How anybody could resist such a proposal we may never know, but as far as we can tell, Hayley hasn’t replied to the offer.

For the love of fit babies, just say yes Hayley! If you’re really lucky, you might even get your name added to the list of conquests tattooed on his bumcheek. What more could a girl want?

Skylar Laine and Colton Dixon want Tim Tebow and Hayley Williams to give them a call

Skylar Laine and Colton Dixon would like to reiterate that they are definitely, absolutely, 100 percent not dating, despite the rumor “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest started on the Top 8 performance show that the duet partners were a couple in real life. But there are a few celebs they would like to date if they had the chance — Hayley Williams and Tim Tebow, feel free to pick up a phone and call the “Idol” finalists.

“No!” exclaims Laine when Zap2it asks her about the rumors the following week. “We don’t want anyone dating. That would be weird because they’re all our family!”

Joshua Ledet claims otherwise. “Skylar and Colton have been dating ever since Hollywood Week,” he confesses with a sly smile.

“Excuse me while I punch him out,” Laine says.

Her roommate Hollie Cavanagh is no help either. “Colton and Skylar are dating,” she jokes. “Just kidding. Colton and Skylar are not dating.”

“They’re just married,” Ledet chimes in.

Relax — it’s just playful ribbing from friends. They’re really not dating. And yes, we are totally perpetuating this rumor by writing about it again, but it’s fun to watch Laine squirm while her pals poke fun. We mean that in the nicest way possible — it’s enjoyable to watch the reality show contestants interact on a genuine level and not just for TV cameras.

Besides, Dixon reiterates Laine’s statements. “Skylar and I are NOT dating, and we’re not going to date. Period,” he confirms. “However, after Ryan started the rumors — I don’t know why I thought it would be a good idea, because I think it’s what helps the rumors spin a little more — but we came offstage, we were doing our backstage interview, and she says ‘No, Colton and I are not dating.’ I remember looking at her like ‘We’re not?’ [Laughs] It was awesome. She gave me a good smack afterwards.”

Okay, fine. They. Are. Not. Dating. But who would they like to date?

Both have a few celebrity crushes. “Okay, I have a couple,” says Laine. “Jason Aldean. Justin Moore — he’s the one who sings ‘Small Town USA.’ And Tim Tebow, of course.”

And Dixon? “Hayley Williams of Paramore is a big one. Gosh. And Emma Watson, man, ever since I started watching ‘Harry Potter’ I was glued. The accent doesn’t help at all. Gosh, she’s gorgeous.”

Florence And The Machine’s Florence Welch has been voted the greatest woman in rock of all time.

In a poll conducted by radio station XFM, the ‘Ceremonials’ singer came out on top ahead of The Kills’ Alison Mosshart, who had to settle for second place.

Skunk Anansie’s Skin, real name Deborah Dyer, nabbed third spot, while Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ singer Karen O came fourth and Blondie’s Debbie Harry was voted in fifth place. Siouxsie Sioux, PJ Harvey, Paramore’s Hayley Williams, the late Amy Winehouse and Hole rocker Courtney Love filled out the rest of the top 10.
